TripQuest

I built TripQuest because I wanted to make long car rides feel more like something families play together, not just time everyone tries to survive separately on their own screens.

The original idea came from a neighbor who mentioned wanting a license plate tracking game for road trips. I liked the license plate angle immediately, but when I looked closer, that space already felt crowded. Instead of making another license plate app, I started thinking about what else families need in the car: something easy to start, easy to understand out loud, and fun for a wide range of ages.

That became TripQuest.

The hardest part was making the content work . A question that looks fine on a screen is not always good when someone has to read it out loud from the front seat. I spent a lot of time trying to make the questions short, clear, playful, and understandable on the first listen.

I also learned that building a simple-looking app does not mean the work is simple. Things like pack unlocks, trip mode, scoring, App Store setup, and making the interface readable over scenic backgrounds all took more iteration than I anticipated.

Here’s what I learned, the best app ideas often start as something small, but the real product comes from paying attention to where the original idea feels too crowded, too limited, or not quite useful enough. TripQuest started with license plates, but it turned into a road trip game app built around trivia, true or false questions, and animal guessing games for the whole car.
